Lauren’s Poem
When Janis Ian wrote her song about her life at 17, one can only wonder what she’d have said about covid 19.
While I’ve been asked to put pen to paper, there are so many things that I could say. How self isolating and hand washing can keep the bad bugs away.
So I’m not going to tell you about how my hairs a mess or how I can’t go in that shop and buy that knock out dress.
Instead my wishes and dreams would all take second place if I could only open up that door and kiss my dear grandmothers face.
So thank you to our doctors, nurses and health care for looking after her so well and many others in your care
So until all this is over and everyone is back where they belong, I’ll wave to her through windows and pray to god – just keep us strong.
