Since the start of the term we have been playing a soccer league. I played for Barcelona with the other pupils in Kilmurry National School. We had other teams – Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona. There were awards presented to some players. Trophies were presented to the winning team’s captain James Muldoon.
In the semi-finals were Man City and Barcelona. Barcelona won 3-1. In the other semi-final Dundalk and Real Madrid played each other. The final score was 3-0 to Real Madrid. Real Madrid and Barcelona were left to face off in the final.
It was Friday the day of the final and it was a very equal match. It was 0-0 until the second half. Barcelona had kick off and almost straight away I ran up the left wing and came to a 1v1 against Cathal Ryan and scored. It was now 1-0 to Barcelona. The final score was 1-0 to Barcelona. After the match, the awards were presented and I got Man of the match. I received a soccer ball and both teams got medals. Then we did the lap of glory and after that we took photos!!
All the students in Killmurry National school wish to say a big thank you to all the teachers who helped out in the first Jimmy Conlon Soccer League!
