Congratulations to the children in 2nd class who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on 8th February in St. Mary’s Church. Thanks to Ms. Fogarty for preparing the children.
Well done to both our school basketball teams who took part in the Marion Keane Basketball competition. The boys have qualified for the next round of the competition and the girls were extremely unlucky losing out in extra-time!
Mark and Dara tell us about their day:
On Thursday 15th March, Kilmurry 6th class students went to Gurteen for a basketball Tournament. We left the school at half nine and arrived at around ten to ten. When we arrived we got changed in the dressing room and went out to the hall to warm up. The boys had to wait about an hour and a bit for the girls to finish. When it was the boys turn we played Quin first and beat them 6-2. After a wait of three games we played Tulla in a tantalizing contest and it went right down to the wire. The game ended in a draw so we had to go to golden basket. We ended up winning 6-4. Then we played Kilkishen in our last match and we won comfortably with scores all around the court. We ended up winning the Basketball Tournament and we are through to a quarter final after Easter. We had a great day.

Active School : 10@10 on 10th Feb
As part our efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle, pupils took part in the 10@10 for the month of February. 10@10 is an initiative where children do 10 minutes exercise at 10 o’clock every morning. It was a huge success and thanks to Ms. Gary for organising it.
Active School Week
This year we will hold an Active School Week between 24th– 28th April. We will encourage all pupils to get involved in a wide variety of activities and sports during the week. We are also looking for parents, who are involved in sports that children would not usually come in contact with, to give a short talk to the pupils. If you are interested please contact the office.
School Opening Times
Classes commence at 8.50a.m. each day. The yard/school will be supervised from 8.30 a.m. until the bell rings. No formal responsibility can be accepted for pupils arriving before that time. As staff may be involved in organisation and preparation for the day ahead, they cannot supervise formally so parents are requested to bring their children to school as close to the official start time as possible. The Board of Management and Staff acknowledge your ongoing support as we work to protect the safety of every child in the school.

The school held our Accelerated Reading Day/World Book Day on the 2nd March when we dressed up as our favourite characters.

Our show case day will take place after the Easter Holidays. Thank you for your support. by Eloise & Aisling.
