Halloween Trail: Astro-Turf Fundraiser
As you may have heard, plans for our astro-turf pitch are now gathering pace. A separate Pitch Development Committee, under the umbrella of the Parents’ Association, has been established and some preliminary presentations have been made to the school and wider community.
Starting this month, fundraising events for the remainder of 2017 include;
- Oct 13th – Cash for Clobber – all collections this year will go towards the Pitch Development fund
- Oct 30th – ‘Spooky Halloween Trail’ at 12 O’Clock Hills, tickets available, see posters
- Nov 26th – Coffee morning, final details to follow
- Nov / Dec – Christmas Cards, similar to previous years, will be organised through Parents Association
- Dec 9th – Children’s Carol Singing at Shannon Town Centre
As part of our “Halloween Trail” at the 12 O’Clock Hills on Monday 30th October, we are inviting each child to participate in a pumpkin carving competition. There will be a prize for the top 3 pumpkins and ALL Pumpkins will be on display, lighting our path on the Spooky Trail.
Pumpkins should be brought to the school on Friday 27th to be included in the competition.
There are tickets still available and it is promised to be a super night of fun and scares! Your help and generosity is very much appreciated

Many thanks to those of you who have already made your contribution. If you have not already attended to this, could you please do so at your earliest convenience. The cost is €40 per child in Junior Infants to First Class and €50 per child in Second Class to Sixth Class. If you wish to pay in instalments please contact the school office.
Intel Mini Scientist
This competition is an initiative which allows students from 4th, 5th and 6th classes to develop science related projects which are then exhibited at school level. We will have this exhibition on Thursday,16th November 1.30 -3.00pm when members of the school community can drop in and view the projects. The winning groups will be invited by Intel to attend the final in the Intel Campus, Shannon in early December. Please note that it is at the discretion of the parents of the winning groups if they wish to bring their children to the event in Shannon.
Cross Country Running
September 14th was a very exciting day for our students who went to Lee’s Rd, Ennis for the East Clare Schools Cross Country Championships. Altogether, 32 children represented the school in boys and girls races across three age groups. Almost 100 children participated in each race so competition was very high! All of our pupils should be very proud of their performance and behaviour throughout the day. Thanks to Mr. Corry and Michelle O’Mahony for their help on the day and all the parents who helped out and supported the teams.
The girls over 10 team, Grace (u -10) and Dara (over -10) qualified for the Cross Country Finals which take place in Lee’s Road on November 15th. Best of luck!
Up the Bridge!
Congratulations to the Sixmilebridge Senior Hurling Team on winning the Cannon Hamilton. We are especially proud of all our past pupils who were involved and wish them well in the Munster Championship!
School Car Park
I would like to thank parents for their cooperation with the car park layout. The addition of an area for children to walk safely between cars and the school gate has made the car park safer for our children. We still have a small number of cars who stall on the incline to the car park which means the cars behind are waiting on the road. Please drive in and park and let your child our safely along the marked out walking path.
