Ailíse won the community games art competition. Hers is Ailíse’s account of the day. Well done Ailíse and congratulations!
On the 7th of February I travelled to the CBS in Ennis for the county finals in Community Games. I had drawn two basket ballers reaching for a ball in the Sixmilebridge competition and I came first. Since I won I had to go to the county finals. I left at 9 o’ clock to be in Ennis by 9:45. I was shaking from nervousness and excitement. After what felt like hours the lady in my room told us to begin. I decided to draw the same picture as before. The desks were the old type with ink wells and there was hardly any room for A3 paper. After an hour I was almost finished. I coloured in the background with yellow and orange lines so that there would be no white spaces on the page. I stuck my sheet onto an A2 page and checked if everything was perfect. I was really happy with it so I handed it up. My dad was outside the door so I left an hour early! We dr ove home and I told him all about it. At around 6 o’clock that evening my mom got a text. It said that I had won! I couldn’t believe it as there had been 20 people in my room and 20 more in another! I was so happy! In August I have to travel to Athlone to represent Clare in U14 girls in the All Ireland competition. But I can only draw one of four sports picked out of a hat 15 minutes before! It’s going to be very hard but I will try my best!
