On the 14/6/16 the 4th, 5th and 6th class girls won the Cumann na mBunscol final in Cusack Park, Ennis. Kate and Maeve tell us their story.
We arrived into school and straight away headed to the cabin and put our gear on. We left the school at 9:15 and arrived in Cusack Park at 9:30. We got kitted out and warmed up. Josette Hogan, our captain, went in for the toss. We had a quick pep talk with Miss Clune and ran on to the pitch. The match began at 10 o’ clock on the dot and the game was off.
Emily Costello started off the game with an outstanding point that put us in the lead. Scores continued coming from every angle of the field that put us in the lead 6-1 to 1 goal at half time. Miss Clune gave us a quick pep talk and the second half began. We were off to a great start again but this time Barefield came back with 2 goals putting the score to 7-1 / 3-1 but again Kilmurry came back and took the shield with a win 10-2 / 3-1.
For the second year in the row the girls won the shield and huge celebrations were made and goodies were kindly organised by the Parents’ Association.
To finish it off the boys went out and won their nail biting final 4-9 / 1-9.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Clune, Jimmy and Anne for all they have done and all the parents who drove us to the matches and supported us all the way.
By Kate Fitzgerald and Maeve Egan.
Well done to the camogie team who won their match today.
The girls played a great match and were worthy winners.
Thanks to players, mentors and parents who made it all possible.
Cill Mhuire Abú!
